The renovated Morgan Falls Dog Park gets its ribbon cutting at 2 p.m. Oct. 14, with new shade, fountains, wash stations and a fix for the mud.
Sandy Springs will cut the ribbon on the renovated Morgan Falls Dog Park at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 14. The work was finished ahead of schedule, the city said in its announcement.
The 3.4-acre park is at 100 Morgan Falls Road. It overlooks the Chattahoochee River within Morgan Falls Park and has two fenced areas, one for small dogs and one for large dogs.
Yeager, a Sandy Springs Police Department K-9, will attend the ceremony, the city said.
What is new
The improvements started with the problem dog owners raised most. At community meetings, many said their dogs came home too muddy, according to the city’s construction update. Water was overflowing a silted-up ditch into the large dog area.
The first phase graded a drainage channel to carry the water away from the park. The city said that work required removing some trees.
The renovated park now has:
- shade structures
- benches and picnic tables
- waste and wash stations
- drinking fountains
- boulders for dogs to climb on
The city has not published the cost of the work.
