New in Sandy Springs from city records: a Sonic on Roswell Road, cafes on Hammond Drive and Peachtree Dunwoody, and the North River redevelopment.

Last checked Oct. 5, 2026. This is the first monthly roundup. Every item comes from a City of Sandy Springs public record: the New Business Registrations reports, City Council agendas and minutes on the public meetings portal, and city news releases. A registration or license is not the same as a grand opening; we say which record each item comes from. The roundup is rebuilt each month.

The city publishes a list of every business that gets a Business Occupational Tax Certificate, the city’s business license, to start doing business in Sandy Springs. The most recent report the city has posted is dated May 12, 2026; the storefronts below come from the reports of May 1, May 6 and May 12. We will add later reports as the city posts them.

Alcohol licenses before the City Council

  • Chevron Food Mart, 5300 Roswell Road. On Sept. 1 the council voted 6-0 to approve a package beer and wine license for Sun Ash Enterprises LLC, doing business as Chevron Food Mart, after a change of ownership, according to the meeting minutes. Staff recommended approval after the applicant passed a background check.

Bigger projects

  • North River Shopping Center, 8830 Roswell Road. On Aug. 18 the council approved incentives for Woodfield Development to replace the aging center with 336 apartments, 85 for-sale townhomes, retail, restaurants and a 0.71-acre public park, the city announced. The package, valued at just over $4.3 million, waives city recreation impact and permit fees and recommends a 10-year property tax abatement from the Sandy Springs Development Authority. It depends on Woodfield demolishing the center and building the project and the park. The city says construction is expected to start later this year once Woodfield buys the property.
  • A Sandy Springs address. In March the U.S. Postal Service agreed to make Sandy Springs the default mailing name for city addresses in seven ZIP codes: 30319, 30327, 30328, 30338, 30339, 30342 and 30350, the city said. ZIP code 30092 was not changed.

Opening a business here

The city’s opening a new business page says every business needs a Business Occupational Tax Certificate, applied for within 30 days of opening to avoid penalties. A commercial location may need a certificate of occupancy first. Apply by mail or in person at the Revenue Desk with the application (PDF); the city says processing takes 7 to 10 business days. Businesses that sell alcohol, rent short-term lodging or rent vehicles have extra requirements, on the city’s business licensing page.
