Fulton County Schools’ spring break is Monday, April 5, to Friday, April 9, 2027, according to the district’s 2026-27 calendar (PDF). Students are also off Monday, March 15, and Feb. 15-19 (a three-day break plus two teacher workdays). Private schools set their own dates; check with your school.

Camps

City of Sandy Springs. Recreation and Parks offers “seasonal camps and school break programs” throughout the year, its recreation programs page says. Since June 18, 2026, registration runs through The OttoApp, at the city’s registration portal. Spring 2027 sessions had not been posted as of Oct. 5, 2026. Scholarships are available through recreation@sandyspringsga.gov.

Things to do

Hike the river. The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area has three units in or on the edge of Sandy Springs: Island Ford, 8850 Roberts Drive, with about 3 miles of river trail and a visitor station in Hewlett Lodge; East Palisades, 1425 Indian Trail, with high overlooks and a bamboo forest; and Powers Island. The Island Ford visitor contact station is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and the park lands are open dawn to dusk, the National Park Service says. Parking needs a $5 standard pass (fees page). Get on the water. Morgan Falls Overlook Park, 400 Morgan Falls Road, has a floating dock for kayaks, canoes and paddleboards on the river above Morgan Falls Dam. Bring your own or rent one from Murph’s Surf Paddle Shack at the park, the city’s park page says. The park also has a playground, porch swings and a 2/3-mile woodland trail.

Make a lantern. The city’s Lantern Parade is Saturday, May 8, 2027. Make-at-home lantern kits are offered April 1 to May 7, according to the City Springs event listing, with details on the city’s lantern kits page.

See a show. The Vienna Girls Choir sings at the Sandy Springs Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 9, the last day of the break. Tickets $29 to $63 (event page).

Just before the break: Artsapalooza, March 27-28. The Sandy Springs Artsapalooza spring arts festival brings art to the streets on Easter weekend, with a free egg hunt Sunday at 2 p.m. Parking at Century Springs is free, according to the festival’s site. See our Easter page.

Rainy days. The Sandy Springs Branch Library, 395 Mount Vernon Highway, is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday, and closed Sunday, according to the library’s branch page. More ideas in our kids’ activities guide.
